This is a new feature that is not yet available in released versions of Firefox. You can try it on Firefox Beta.
Firefox lets you identify noisy tabs and mute them in a single click. Silence single tabs quickly without affecting your other windows.
When sound starts playing on a webpage, Firefox lets you know where it's coming from by displaying a speaker icon on the tab:
Mute a tab
- Click the speaker icon to turn off the sound for that tab.
- A line will appear over the icon to let you know that the sound is off:
Unmute a tab
- Click the speaker icon again to turn the sound back on.
- The line over the icon will disappear to let you know that the sound is on.
