Make Firefox your default browser on Windows

This article shows you how to change your default web browser to Firefox.


  1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and then select Preferences or Settings, depending on your macOS version.Click the menu button Fx89menuButton and select Settings.
  2. In the General panel, at the top of the page, you will find the default browser setting.

  3. Click Make Default... button.

    If Firefox is already your default browser the Make Default... button will be hidden. And Firefox will say that it is the default browser.
  4. The Window Settings app will open with the Default apps panel already open for you.

  5. Scroll down and find the Web browser section. Then click on the browser that is currently listed.

  6. In the Choose an app window click on Firefox to set it as the default browser.

  7. Go back to the Web browser section and you will see that Windows 10 has Firefox set as the default browser.

  8. Go back into Firefox. The General panel will still be open. Firefox will show that it is the default browser as well.
