Forum Response - Compatible Applications from Android and iPhone (Firefox OS)

This article is no longer maintained, so its content might be out of date.

Firefox OS, iOS, and Android are completely different mobile Operating Systems. Therefore, applications from Android and iPhone will not run on Firefox OS.

Firefox OS is based on technologies of the Open Web (HTML5, Javascript, CSS), while Android and iPhone run applications that are written on native code.

Developers must write a version of the application that is compatible with Firefox OS and the Open Web. We suggest that you contact developers directly to make this request.

The good news, is that a great number of applications and websites are already written for the Open Web, so making them compatible with Firefox OS takes little effort from the developers.
