Reader View is a Firefox feature that strips away clutter like buttons, ads and background images, and changes the page's text size, contrast and layout for better readability. Reader View settings are easily customizable to fit your reading preferences.

View a page in Reader View

  1. If a page is available in Reader View, the Reader View icon Reader modereader mode icon 57 will appear in the address bar.

  2. Click on the Reader View icon Reader modereader mode icon 57. The icon will turn orangeblue when the page is in Reader View.
Note: If the Menu bar is enabled, you can also access Reader View if a page is available by clicking View, then Enter Reader View.

Modify Reader View settings

Options will appear to the left when you view a page in Reader View:

Reader View Options:

  • exit icon rl 49: Exit Reader View.
  • font size 49 rl: Adjust the text size, font, line spacing and contrast in Reader View.

  • read aloud 49: Have Firefox read an article out loud in Reader View.
    This button will show up only if Windows/Mac/Linux has Text-to-speech information in the language that the article is in.
  • pocket button reader view 38: Add a page to Pocket.
