Are you using MS Windows, Delpaso? One common fix is to check the default programs, which you can find in the start menu. Go through the list and select Firefox. This works differently from performing this task from within Firefox.

For more assistance with changing default programs in Windows please look at this video.

Hi, yes I'm using Windows and have set the defaults correctly.

The first time I open Thunderbird and click a link, it opens in Firefox but any other links after that do not open. I have to drag the actual link itself and drop it into the firefox window to get it to open the web page

Try this! Restart the operating system in safe mode with Networking. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX

If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.

If you are using the Thunderbird Email program, it may just be a matter of disabling ThunderBrowse. With the latest update when I clicked on a link in an email it opened another tab in the email program rather than opening my Firefox web browser.

If that is the case with you as well, simply go to Tools> Addons> Extensions and Disable ThunderBrowse. You must restart TB before it will take effect.

hi, i did what matt suggested and started my mac in safe mode....the links worked well in safe mode....when i checked them after booting up normally, the links worked for a time, not long, and now they no longer work

what is happening with me, when i click on a link in tb, firefox will open to the proper link, however, if firefox is already open the link will just bring up the firefox browser and not the link....i have to close firefox and then click on the link and firefox will then open to the proper window......

any help would be appreciated

this seemed to happen right after i installed the OS bash update.

Links in email don't work if Firefox program has gone to any page after opening my home page. If I've gone to other pages from Firefox and return to my home page, links in Thunderbird still don't work. The link goes to Firefox, but shows the last page I was on before doing the email link. Can this be fixed?

I tried the email links when various pages are open in Firefox. Tried to discover if any specific pages were causing the block. Only thing that works is to close and then reopen Firefox.

I do not have the ThunderBrowse add-on. Under Tools/Advanced, I did not find Config Editor.

I’m on a Mac OS 10.6.8, using Firefox 32.0.3 and Thunderbird 24.6.0. My browser is Mediacom.
