I used to be able to put words into the URL bar and it would take me direct to site, not to a google search

Since the recent update I am no longer taken direct to a webpage when I put two or more words in the URL bar.

Example: Before if I wanted to go to, say, Slayer's discogs page I would type SLAYER DISCOGS into the location bar and it would take me direct to the page. Now, however, it takes me to a Google search of which the top result will be correct. It is annoying to have to keep clicking through pages I don't need to see/didn't see before, but I am guessing this has been eradicated to give Google more clicks?

ANYWAYS, my question is can I fix this? And don't tell me to go change my keyword.URL to either http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q= or http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q= because I have tried that already.

Many thanks

Starting with Firefox 23 the keyword.URL pref is no longer supported and it is no longer possible to specify the search engine for the location bar that way.

The search engine that is used on the location bar and on the about:home page is the search engine that is selected in the search Bar on the Navigation Toolbar.

You can install the Keyword Search extension to specify with search engine to use for the location bar and which search engine to use for the about:home page via the Options/Preferences windows of this extension, accessible via the about:addons page.
