how do I import my contacts from a wab file on my desktop?
my contacts have come from a windows xp computer and have been exported as a wab file. How can I now import these off my desktop?

Looks like you'll need to use a Microsoft program: http://fileinfo.com/extension/wab
Hopefully whatever you find to open this file can export it to a CSV or maybe LDIF or VCF file, which Thunderbird can then import.
