I just installed Firefox 4....Now every time I open firefox the cursor will automatically jump to the URL bar.

I want it to start and stay inside the main google page search box.

I don't want any add ons or extensions, I want it back to the way it was before I upgraded to version 4.

Thanks in advance!

I don't have newtabhomepage, but I have the same problem. I set google.com to my homepage and clicking the home button pops the cursor into the URL. Installing the patched add-on had no effect, as I didn't even have newtabhomepage applied. This seems to be a FF4 homepage issue, or perhaps a FF4-Google issue?

Thank You! This was driving me crazy. I'm sending an e-mail to the developer Ben.

Hmm, I use NewTabUrl and had the same problem... then I checked the settings page and found a tick box for "Select location bar after selecting a new tab". This was ticked; maybe the last update changed... anyway, unticking this box and the behaviour is back to normal... :)
