Hey everyone, i received this error message: The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message. Mail server exch101.ita.rwth-aachen.de responded: Message corrupted

I already tried a couple of things advised, like - deleting all latest messages on the outlook web app (that's my alternative access to the emails) - moving even messages from before the error occurred from inbox to subfolders - restarting the computer - trying the retrieval multiple times over - using Mozilla safe mode

I guess Thunderbird has already started downloading the corrupted message, and now it is blocking all other messages.... Any ideas?

Besides rearranging and cleaning out the Inbox, did you empty the Trash and Spam/Junk folders through webmail? The corrupted message could be in one of those folders, and an IMAP account that subscribes to those folders tries to download them to TB.

Thanks a lot for the reply, but unfortunately, that did not help either. I am using a POP mail server for the inbox with STARTTLS security and normal password, if that information helps.

I'm not sure if the error about corrupted messages is literally true, as sometimes the error is caused by other factors, such as incorrect settings. The recommended settings for RWTH are: incoming server mail.rwth-aachen.de on port 995 (POP) or 993 (IMAP), SSL/TLS security, authentication = normal password, User Name = email address; outgoing server mail.rwth-aachen.de on port 587, STARTTLS security, authentication = normal password, User Name = email address.

Some security/AV apps can also interfere with mail connections, so it's generally recommended to disable scanning of the mail folder or add the TB profile folder as an Exclusion or Exception, depending on the app.
