Hi,

First, this is not a complaint. Firefox is an outstanding product that makes me very happy.

I though I could post the following, because this community strives to make it better.

In a nutshell, I have a very fast Internet connection, up to 6Gbs/1Gbs speed, and Firefox is not able to go over .9/.8

I attach are 2 tests, one with Firefox and one with Chrome.

Note that when using it for anything else than speedtest, Firefox does not feel slow at all.

I'm not requesting a fix, just thought that somebody would like to know.

Do all speed checking websites give the same result?

You can check the connection settings and check for possible issues with a Proxy or VPN service.

  • Settings -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

If you do not need to use a Proxy to connect to internet, select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

Hello,

I did some testing of my own and did not receive these results; in some cases there was little disparity, others there was none at all. I admit that I do not have an internet speed even close to yours and that my Firefox has an adblock while my Chromium does not

I would like to ask, does this affect you when you are downloading files? I ask because if the disparity you are noticing is an issue, it may be good to find the problem and make a fix

No, I use Internet Download Manager, so Firefox is out of the loop for downloading files.

And even if I did not, you cannot go over 1G speed with only one thread with most servers on the net. I haven't tried, but I'm pretty sure that Firefox would not be slower than Chrome for downloading files. IDM splits the downloads into as many threads as you choose.

At the moment, my connection is slower, at only (hum!) 2.5G with speedtest.

fast.com gives 2.4 with Chrome, and 1.2 with Firefox.

www.nperf.com/en works much better with Firefox: 2.3/1.0 while Chrome is 2.9/1.0

www.highspeedinternet.com gives 3/.9 with Firefox and 2.9/.8 with Chrome.

With the last, Firefox is faster.

That was a good idea, I guess it's mostly a speedtest issue.

No proxy.

I'll take a look, thanks.

One more thing: looking more closely at meter.net results, I see that it gives 1.3 with one thread, and 3.0 with 15 threads.

speedtest uses 4 threads from what I read, which should be enough. It's just slow with Firefox, which is anecdotal.
