I do not have an adblocker addon installed but sites will not let me proceed because a window pops up that I have and adblocker - How can I whitelist such sites? The solutions I found on the net, say to click on the shield or the adblock icon, which I do not have any of these icons in my browser.

Hi Chandan_Baba There is a Kaspersky green shield icon blocking data collection from websites and against Anti Banner. I clicked to allow data collection, but that did not work, however when I clicked to allow anti-banner on the particular website. it worked. Thanks for your suggestion

Hi,

Could it be that you use Tracking Protection  ? If you are using a private browsing window, check for Tracking Protection filtering the page. A shield icon should appear near the left end of the address bar. More info on how it works and how to manage it you will find in these articles :

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tracking-protection

and

thanks Happy112 but the above does not apply in my case. Only the "i" (information) mark appears to the left of the address bar with the information "You have not granted this site any special permissions" I tried allowing various items in your first link and none worked. Your second link does not apply as I am not using the private browsing window.

Sticking with my 'tracking protection theory':

Type in the addresss bar about:config (press Enter) (promise to be careful, if asked)

Type and look for the preference :'

privacy.trackingprotection.enabled and set its value to false

Then close and restart Firefox.

Note : The preference for tracking protection in private windows (which you don't use) is :

privacy.trackingprotection.pbmode.enabled

If that doesn't make a difference :

Do you by any chance have security software like Kaspersky installed  ? If so : you could check their settings for adblocking.

You could try to reload the page : Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button or press 'Ctrl + F5' or press 'Ctrl + Shift + R'

The last thing I can think of, if everything else fails  :

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

Clear the Cache:

3-bar menu => Options => General => Network => Cached Web Content :
"Clear Now"

Remove Cookies from sites causing problems:

3-bar menu => Options => Privacy & Security => under 'History' : choose 'Use custom settings for history' => "Show Cookies"

Hi Happy112 the settings in about:config were already as you suggested so I left them as they were. I do have a Kaspersky protection, but unfortunately I cannot find from where is the adblocker setting. I will contact Kaspersky support on this point. I cleared the cache as suggested and the problem remained. Thanks again for your suggestions

Do you see any Kaspersky logo within browser extension ? Seems it keeps private browsing https://help.kaspersky.com/kis/2017/en-EN/93503.htm https://support.kaspersky.com/12689#block1
