I'm using a Logitech Performance MX mouse and Microsoft Wireless Desktop Elite keyboard in Windows 8 64-bit and Firefox 17. All software/drivers are the latest available. The mousewheel functions erratically; the keyboard scrollwheel doesn't operate at all. However, they do operate correctly in all other applications, including Internet Explorer. They did operate properly in Firefox 17 in Windows 7. I have checked in about:config but there are no entries for mousewheel.withnokey at all.

Also, the forward/back buttons on the mouse do not function in FF17. Their counterparts on the keyboard operate properly. Again, those buttons do work in all other applications including IE.

There have been changes to the mousewheel prefs as the consequence of implementing DOM3 mouse wheel scrolling.

Did you check the settings in the mouse driver?

You probably need to set the Back button to Alt+Cursor Left and the Forward button to Alt+Cursor Right top make them work in Firefox.
