As you can see, when using Firefox with my Win 7 system and a Microsoft split èergonomicè keyboard, FireFox does not properly recognize input from some keys, i.e., the question mark key - É; the single quote key - è; etc. This only happens in FireFox. Otherwise my computerès OS and other applications respond properly to normal US English keyboard input. What is wrong and how can I set Firefox up to respond properlyÉÉ. Those French e acutes are not so cute.

That is usually caused by switching the keyboard layout by pressing the keys (Alt+Shift or Ctrl+Shift) that rotate the layout.
You can easily press those keys if you access a menu, so it is best to disable those layout rotate key sequences.

  • Make sure that you have the Language bar visible on the Windows Taskbar.
  • You can do that via the right-click context menu of the Taskbar: Toolbars > Language Bar.
