Firefox update fails to warn about disabling Norton toolbar add-on. Will this be rectified?

All versions of Firefox after 3.6.8 have disabled Norton 360 toolbar. Even though the update is set to warn if an add-on will be disabled, this has not happened. The problem has persisted for about 6 months or more and so far neither Symantec nor Firefox have resolved the issue. Has anyone been able to run later versions successfully? (To preserve the toolbar function I keep unistalling later versions of Firefox and going back to 3.6.8)Will this be addressed in Firefox 4?

The latest version of the Norton toolbar should work in Firefox 3.6.15, make sure you have the latest version installed.

As for Firefox 4, you need to contact Symantec about their plans for supporting Firefox 4. It is quite common for companies to only support a new version of a browser after it has been officially released, and not support it during the beta/release candidate phase.

Thanks. It definitely did not work 4 days ago; perhaps TonyE refers to a more recent update. Symantec claim their 360 Toolbar will "probably" work with Firefox 4, but only AFTER released. After many hours of experimentation, they agreed with me that Toolbar did not work with Forefox Ver 3.6.10 onwards (up to 3.6.15), nor could we get it to work when trying radical re-installations, updates, different settings and minor file re-edits. So TonyE you may know something the rest of us don't - some step is missing - maybe you can tell us what this is. Believe me we have tried. Have you actually seen them run together?

I do not use Norton, but this is the first report I can recall of it not working on 3.6.15

Fair enough. Just to clarify the Norton Toolbar has not worked with any Firefox version from 3.6.10 onward. Also I note there are already 8 others reporting this problem. I suggest we leave the question open until a solution is found or until maybe the release of Firefox 4 will make the question obsolete.

I have the exact same problem. I use Firefox 4 and it's very annoying not being able to have Norton with it. I really like the layout, but the compatibility issue is what gets me. No notice of it doesn't help either. I'll let you know if I find out anything.
