Firefox is not clearing active log-ins when closing

"Active Logins" is for web servers (usually FTP) that use Basic access authentication See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basic_access_authentication --- You need to clear the Hotmail (live.com, passport.net) cookies: "Remove the Cookies" from the site: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Thanks for your suggestion, cor-el. It doesn't really solve my problem, which I'll restate: I remain logged-in to all accounts (not just hotmail!) even after closing and re-opening Firefox. This was never an issue before.

Perhaps I could simply un-install Firefox 3.6.4 and use the previous version?

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted. You can rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete cookies.sqlite-journal and cookies.txt, if they exist, in the Profile Folder in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
