files downloaded are deleted when browser closes
Files I download through firefox just get deleted after I close the app, I am on mobile so I have no idea whats happening or why its happening

Check permissions to write on memory or access to memory by app. In addition install Total Commander and when you download something then without closing Firefox go to Total Commander and copy downloaded file to another folder, then check if file still exists after Firefox closing.
Ok so I only recently found out that the files I downloaded through private browsing are what gets deleted in the download folder after closing firefox, but if I move the files from the download folder to a different folder(in my SD card) upon closing firefox the files stay and are viewable.
Files I download through normal browsing stay in the download folder after closing firefox
I also noticed the option of: "delete browsing data on quit" which has been turned off the entire time
