Firefox browser taking up enormous CPU percentage

At the time of the attached screenshot, I only had one window open with 6-7 tabs. One of the tabs was Youtube and was playing PIP

I have a pretty decently powerful Mac desktop with a good amount of memory and storage (attached screenshot with details as well)

This has been happening consistently and sometimes causes my computer to freeze for long periods of time or even crash entirely if something else is running (e.g. Adobe Illustrator, which I do not use very often)

Any quick help would be greatly appreciated as this is affecting my work efficiency as well
