I got a temporary menu with file, edit, view, message etc. also events and tasks that I've never seen before. Didn't see anything about toolbars, menu bar or mail toolbar. The menu button on the right corner is still gone.

The menu icon will appear in the 'Mail Toolbar' when it is enabled. However, you can get to everything without using the menu icon, if you have both toolbars enabled.
