I installed Adobe CS5. It installed the Contribute 6.0 Toolbar. Ever since then, FF runs incredibly slow, so I am trying to get rid of it. Going to Tools --> AddOns and removing the Contribute Toolbar does not fix it (upon restarting, it shows Contribute was just installed). I've tried trashing CS5, FF, and FF profile files and then reinstalling FF. Contribute is still there! Help!

Hello Will.

It's possible that "Adobe Contribute Toolbar" (what an obnoxious name!) is a plugin. Go into Tools > Add-ons > Plugins and disable it. If it's not there, it's because it's not a plugin. In that case, you'll probably need to contact Adobe for support.

It is a plugin, and you can mark it for uninstall, but it reappears when Firefox restarts. I cannot get rid of it. I begin to understand Steve Jobs' remarks about Flash. Adobe, you have installed unwanted software on my machine and made it impossible to remove. Sounds like criminal behaviour to me. If its not, it certainly is a way to make enemies and ensure people avoid your products.

Has anyone come up with a fix other than linking to the Adobe support post, yet? I tried it and I don't have either of the files it says to remove. In fact, my extensions folder here: >/Library/Application Support/Mozilla/Extensions/{ed8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384} is completely empty.

Hi, Even if the folder is completely empty DELETE IT. I had same problem too. You might have to remove it from 2 locations on MAC OSX or for each user individually:

1) Hard Drive/Library/Application Support/Mozilla/Extensions/{ed8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384} also {3550f703-e582-4d05-9a08-453d09bdfdc6}

2) Hard Drive/USERS/USER NAME .../Library/Application Support/Mozilla/Extensions/{ed8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384} also {3550f703-e582-4d05-9a08-453d09bdfdc6}

It worked for me. I hope it will help you too. My browsing is faster again!!! Good luck!
