I had been confused about this as well, but it turns out it's not an issue with Focus - what's happening is it's showing whatever text you have copied on your device's clipboard. You can verify this by selecting and copying any new text.

I tried this and you are correct. But how do I get rid of it entirely? Not a very private browser if anything you paste can't be erased.
