Does the Mozilla Crash Reporter come up, or you just go straight back to where you were before?

Could you try starting Firefox in its Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

jscher2000, the Mozilla Crash Reporter does not come up. Sorry to report that clicking Start in Safe Mode brings me back to square one, ie it crashes after 1-2 secs again. Shall I try clicking Rest Firefox?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Have you tried to Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} ?
