I have a new computer. I can not get Firefox to auto-login to any sites. How can I make it so that this new computer functions like every other one I've seen...e.g., it actually remembers what I ask it to?

Cookies are enabled. Sites are checked "remember password" and "automatically log me in." I have checked "yes" to "Do you want firefox to remember the password for this site?" Some sites do auto-fill my username or password, but I still have to go through the process of approving, checking, and clicking, every single time. One example is yahoo mail...but it happens everywhere. It's like every time I access Firefox, it doesn't remember anything.

Are your cookies being saved between browser sessions?

If not, what security suite are you running? Maybe it is clearing your cookies??

  • Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
  • You must allow that cookie (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions), especially for secure websites and if you let cookies expire when Firefox closes
  • Make sure that you do not use Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
