I have some issue with spacebar on some sites with firefox. like in google search, the spacebar refuse to display two or more blank space in a row when the bar is pressed more than once. instead each press is added in the same blank space. means for example if i press space 4 times, only one space appear, but to delete that single blank space i need to press the "back space" key 4 times.

Similar problem with the search bar on the cookie setting (the page in preference where you can manage or delete your cookie list). several time the search bar doesn't write the letters i type. But copy/paste a text work, only keyboard doesn't work. I need to close and re-open the tab for the keyboard working again on the cookie list search bar.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the Default System theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

Multiple spaces can collapse to one space if the text is rendered as HTML and not a plain text.

You can check this in the Inspector.

You can right-click and select "Inspect" to open the built-in Inspector with this element selected.

i don't understand how inspecting can solve the problem? i don't see the difference between a typed text inspected on google or another site without the space problem. All of them show an html code. And it is recent problem, since i don't remember having this issue few weeks ago.

Maybe the website has changed its CSS. Using the Inspector can confirm if this is CSS code coming from the website.

i don't know how to notice this kind of stuff, I am not html/css coding expert, neither a developer or manager working for google. Do you have the same problem when trying to type multiple space in a row on google.com search bar using firefox browser? If it is a CSS problem so most firefox v120 user on google would be affected
