Hi all,

I'm looking for an addon for multi-language environment. Many times I'm starting to write only to find out that I was on the wrong language. Checking the current language near the clock is annoying, so I'm looking for something that will indicate the current language I'm on before writing. Thanks.

Hi

This may not be the complete solution but I think that this add-on for Firefox might help:

This is out of Firefox realm but the closet you will get to on-fly-translation and writing would be to use Chrome as that has language translation and reading built in.

Hi, Thank you for the comment. It's not what I'm looking for I've added a photo to explain what I mean. Thanks.

Hi, thank you for the comment. I'm not using Chrome and never have. I don't want to work with other browser besides Firefox and I'm sure there is some addon out there which will help me achieve what I'm looking for I just don't know how to find it. I've added a photo to explain what I mean. Thanks.

Is this about the keyboard layout in the OS (Windows) or about the spell check dictionary in Firefox ? You can set the latter via the Languages sub menu in the text area. Note that current releases support selecting multiple languages.

The former (showing the current keyboard language) would imply showing the Windows "Language Bar" (Windows remember the keyboard layout per application).

Hi, thank you for your comment. No, it's not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for an addon which will indicate the language I'm currently on

You still didn't explain what language this is about. I think that there are three possible languages choices.

  • the language for the user interface
  • the preferred language(s) for webpages
  • dictionaries for spell checking

Can you attach a screenshot?

The screenshots show that you have a German webpage open. This would imply that you visit the German (.de) local of a multi-language website. A website like Google would normally serve you pages in the local language unless you override this via the accept-language header in the HTTP request headers. You can also select the language and region via its settings page.

This not what I meant. The blue A you see in the picture is an indication of the current langugae being used. I live in Germany, hence the language you see. I'm using also Hungarian layout so it will indicate that I'm on HU as in the picture This is a builtin thing in MacOS and I'm looking for something similar as an addon also for my Windows machines.
