got new laptop with McFee embedded. Virtually all email imported to Thunderbird are marked SPAM. Had long session with MF agent who could not resolve. Advise me to contact TB for solution. So what's going on. Had MF on previous notebook which worked fine,

McAfee have not released a stable and reliable product since 2012. Some would say since John McAfee sold the company. (2011 BTW, But it was 2012 before they got on my radar)

It comes up again and again in these forums. Basically turn off their god awful spam and phishing controls is a starting point. See the notes on this link on McAfee https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Antivirus_Related_Performance_Issues#McAfee

Hopefully some day we will be able to prevent McAfee from injecting their product into the Thunderbird running process. No better than the malware they purport to guard against really.
