I am getting emails from a sender named 'N:'.

They are mostly genuine coming from eBay and other sources that I know.

The first 'N:' email arrived on 30/12/2014 from eBay regarding my Samsung S4 battery.

They continue to occur at random and are associated with genuine correspondents, queries or purchases.

_________________ The first 5-6 emails from this seller all have the 'N:' character as the correspondent between 31/12/2015 and 02/01/2015.

The next in line, a reciept from BookDepository (05/01/2015), is an example of many that followed at random.

The 'N:' emails I recieve today come from genuine sellers or companies - people that I have sent emails to, like Logos Bible Software on the 23/10/2015 etc.

I checked my Emails in Windows 10 Mail and the same Email, from Aspergers Experts on 07/08/2017, in win 10 Mail does not have the single 'N:' character correspondent as it does in Thunderbird.

Have I done something in Thunderbird preferences that marks some types of emails (spam?) as 'n:"?

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards, KH

Check your address book. That's the first place to look because it is referred to for display names. Click on the yellow star in the message header and you'll see an option to edit the Contact, and this will take you to the Contact entry in your Address Book.

Also, have a look at the source of these messages. Select one, use ctrl+u. Search it for mentions of the sender. It's possible, though, I think, highly improbable, that the "n:" appears there.

Hi Zenos,

Only got round to looking today and found all the 'N:' listings in Address Book. I have changed those I correspond with and deleted others.

Is there a way to prevent this happening in the future? Like a Firefox setting for incomplete sender info?

Thanks for your help.

Regards, Keith

Hi Zenos Found an easy way to fix. Went into Thunderbird and worked down until i found and 'N:" then clicked on yellow star and edited like you said. this has worked well as I can sort out the ones i want to name. thanks, Kh
