I changed the password for one of my Gmail accounts. When I try to use the account through Thunderbird as I usually do, a Google window pops requesting credentials on imap.gmail.com with a NEXT button to confirm. But when I click on NEXT nothing happens. I have checked the cookie settings and they are set correctly. What is happening?

Can you please let us know which version of Thunderbird you are using?

Go to Help->About Thunderbird

It is the current version- 52.0.1 (32-bit)

Can also confirm, just re-installed Windows 10 last night where I added my primary Gmail, which worked fine. This morning I'm trying to add my secondary YouTube account mail and I'm unable to click "Next" in the credentials window, more options too. None of the hyperlinks at the bottom work either, plus I can't even copy the URL to do it manually. The only thing that works is changing the language in that window.

On a completely fresh install of Thunderbird 52.0.1 -- Even tried a quick Re-install.

Gmail has changed its login front end. It has been announcing it for weeks. But for me, it changed today (I use their web client for my personal account).

Yesterday I have updated the Provider for Google Calendar and it worked (classic login window)

Can you try using the Tab key to navigate and see if you can get it?

I think that someone needs to do an urgent change in Thunderbird if someone can post this in Bugzilla as critical. Many others will hit the same bug starting today.

I did try using tab and then space / enter but it still doesn't work. Just seems like the buttons in questions are completely dead. So until further notice, no more adding Gmail IMAP accounts I suppose.

Well at least I am not alone. Off to Bugzilla it is. I didn't know that even existed. For now I am accessing the gmail account via the browser.

Hi - I updated Thunderbird to version 52.2.1 and now everything works flawlessly. The pop up window that was no working (button "continue" did not work) worked perfectly, I've put the password and requested Google to allow Thunderbird, all done without problems. What seems strange is that Thunderbird did not update by itself, while I set it for automatic updates.

I have the same problem on Win7 and Win10 on four different computers. Google 2 stage verification is not working and I cannot get my imap TB account pass words accepted. The Google window freezes, exactly as described above. The Bugzilla link was of no use to me. Current and downgraded versions of TB all fail. This is no good. I need a fix or an alternative to Thunderbird. I have used TB for 15 years, but I cannot tolerate this and am planning to leave.

Ideally you would start you own thread instead of posting to a solved one.

What part of the solution above do you not understand? What version Thunderbird are you running?

Thunderbird is requesting that I re-enter passwords for two of my ten gmail accounts. These ten gmail accounts have been in daily use for more than ten years on TB. I update TB regularly. Thunderbird will not accept my password entries on gmail accounts using 2-step verification, TB just re-asks the question without giving any error message., Next, I deleted these accounts from TB and tried to re-install them on TB. TB's "add account" procedure causes a Google window to appear requesting credentials on imap.gmail.com with a NEXT button to confirm. But when I click on NEXT nothing happens. I have checked the cookie settings and they are set correctly. I have this problem on four different PCs running Win7 and Win10. Win10 is up to date. As suggested by Mozilla support I tried downgrading TB to earlier versions, without success. With everything updated and reinstalled I still have the same problem. I am thinking TB has just become too buggy and volunteer support is overwhelmed. Witnout TB there is no chance I will use anything else from Mozilla. UNIFIED EMAIL folders is the main function keeping me with TB/Mozilla.. I have not found this INBOX CONSOLIDATION function available via Google, and I do not want to purchase Office to get Outlook. What should I do?

@617d your repeated threats to "leave" will fall on deaf ears - TB is open source - meaning you got it for free, and it was written by people who wanted to give something cool to the world. It is also supported by volunteers. So nobody owes you anything, and you can't take your money elsewhere since you didn't pay anything to start with.

Though, many will be happy to help if your attitude is mature and grateful.

That said, a lot of times a bug is a bug - there's not much anybody can recommend - and you just have to wait for the maintainers to find and fix (or read about it on bugzilla and fix).

Hello, I changed the password of my gmail address and had the same issue. I couldn't upgrade to the latest Thunderbird release, so, here's the solution that worked for me (posted by steve1150 on [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../1157498?page=2] ):

0) ALLOW LESS SECURE APPS: Login to gmail using your browser, switch to your google account (top-right round button), go to Sign-in & Security>Connected apps & sites, scroll down until reach Allow less secure apps:OFF and turn it ON (if it's already on, leave as it is); 1) DELETE OLD GMAIL PASSWORD: Launch Thunderbird, select Preferences>Security>Passwords>Saved Passwords, select the gmail account from the list and click Remove; 2) CHANGE GMAIL ACCOUNT SETTINGS: Launch Thunderbird, go to Tools>Account Settings>Server Settings of the gmail account you need to bring back to work, switch Authentication Method from Oauth2 to Normal Password and click OK (when requested by Thunderbird, digit the new gmail password); 3) Scroll down to the end of your account list on the left side of the window until you reach Outgoing Server (SMTP) and select it; 4) Select your gmail address from the list, click Edit, switch the Authentication Method to Normal Password as well and click OK

I had exactly the same problem with version 52.3.0, checked add-ons for updates, found one for "Provider for google calendar", updated it, restarted and can now login - hope that helps someone!
