How do I get the most recent message to automatically appear in my list of emails?

I already know how to organize my emails by date, but when I get a new message I'm not aware of it. I have to scroll up or down (depending on if I'm in ascending or descending order) because the preview list of emails doesn't automatically scroll down to show the new message.

I use View|Folders|Unread to review all my folders for any unread messages. I also use the Folder Pane View Switcher add-on to simplify switching between folder views.

Another approach is to set up a Saved Search folder that collects unread messages. Here the QuickFolders add-on lets me put this and other frequently used folders in tabs along the top.

Or the QuickFilter Bar's "unread" option will show only the unread messages in the current folder.
