I started up firefox today and my search engine and all my preferences were changed.

I had not changed anything the last time I used firefox. Why does firefox ignore user settings? Are you being paid by yahoo to push their terrible search engine?

When I looked up this issue their was an old question that was answered it was a bug that had been fixed. Clearly it is either not a bug or it hasn't been fixed.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

I just noticed that firefox changed my homepage as well. And, even though I erased yahoo from the search engines, firefox made it my homepage.

And, no Fred, I do not have any of that on my computer.

Why is firefox trying so hard to push yahoo?

Were all settings that you had previously changed restored to the default?

Do you have an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop in case you used the Refresh feature and created a new profile?

Some installers (not Firefox) are known to change browser homepage settings.
