Whenever I boot/reboot my computer the following Firefox options change to:

When Firefox starts: Show my windows and tabs from last time.
                  Home page: www.v9..........

should be:

When Firefox starts: Show my home page..
                  Home page: www.google.ca

I have to change them back each time. I did have the "v9" browser put on my computer without my knowledge, however, I thought I had got it removed. The Firefox shortcut executes "firefox.exe" so I it seems the Firefox options are being changed. What have I missed in getting rid of the "v9" browser.

Thanks Doug

hello, this sounds like a problem possibly caused by adware on your pc.

  1. please go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc).
  2. also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there.
  3. finally, run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner, which are specialised in adware and browser hijackers.

The only extensions are an "add blocker" and Avast Online Security. I can't find anything in the Windows software list that looks suspicious with, however, it's difficult to tell with all the crap Microsoft puts on the machine. I try to keep the screens clean without any extra stuff.

I don't think it's adware, it seems to me there is something in the registry with a default other than what I set in Firefox that overrides the information on start up.
