Yes, you can't save new passwords if you are in Private Browsing mode.
You need to exit Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode if you want to save a new password.
You can access the currently saved passwords, but Firefox won't fill them automatically.

-> Tap ALT key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar

-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Privacy -> History section -> Firefox will: select "Use custom settings for history" -> REMOVE CHECKMARK from "PERMANENT PRIVATE BROWSING MODE" -> place CHECKMARKS on:

1) Remember my Browsing History

2) Remember Download History

3) Remember Search History

4) Accept Cookies from sites -> select "Exceptions..." button -> Click "Remove All Sites" at the bottom of "Exception - Cookies" window

4a) Accept Third-party Cookies -> under "Keep Until" select "They Expire"

-> REMOVE CHECKMARK from CLEAR HISTORY WHEN FIREFOX CLOSES

Check and tell if its working.

  • You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
  • To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
  • Uncheck: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"
  • Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"

If that doesn't work then make sure that you do not start Firefox with the -private switch appended to the command line in the Firefox desktop shortcut.
