I decided to see if there was an upgrade. I had to download a whole new version (fennec). Then I had 2 different versions of Firefox. I could only uninstall the new one. I want to uninstall both and start over.

Effross, you shouldn't need to install different versions of Firefox mobile. You can get it from the market place, and it will also update from there. What kind of error do you get when you try to uninstall Firefox?
