I have a backup of old thunderbird emails that i want to access. I believe they were "pop" emails. I have downloaded the directory. It has a long path.... which looks like this:

C:\Users\david\Downloads\surface_7-13-14-39-16.zip\C\Users\David\Documents\old thunderbird\Thunderbird\Profiles

How do i find the files with the old emails in them?

Where do i put them so that my current version of Thunderbird can look at them?

They are in the Mail folder, under the folder of the account name. Generally, there are two entries, e.g., INBOX and INBOX.msf - Exit TB - in File Explorer, copy the files into your current profile's Mail/LocalFolder (Be sure not to overwrite any files already there with same name. ) - start TB and you should see in local folders.

Thanks. I haven't tried this yet but it sounds manageable. What about sent emails and attachments. Are they saved somewhere or are they home.

It should all be there together, everything for that account.

Will it make a difference that these were likely pop files and I am now using IMAP?

No. It doesn't matter.
