I am running Linux Mint 17.3, and I cannot save any downloads to anywhere, except to the downloads folder (using Firefox 40.1). I have selected in the preferences to "ask me every time to select download folder", but when the dialogue box comes up to navigate to a folder, I cannot navigate to other folders...really cannot do anything with that dialogue. I have no issues doing the same thing using Chrome. Any suggestions as to how to fix this ? I have also tried resetting the download folder, but firefox will not let me. I have uninstalled firefox, deleted all the folders I could find, then re-installed firefox (from the linux repos), so a fresh profile would be created - same thing.

Hi phlag.

Have you actually deleted the profile folder in your home, so a completely new one is created? Because reinstalling Firefox does not delete any of your data, even if you use apt-get or any other Linux packaging manager.
