why isn't a feature available that locks your homepage so malware and such cant change it? every bloody day i have to change my home-screen back to normal, and don't try and blame my anti virus, this falls on YOU, super weak security and terrible programming come on i'm sure i used to have a browser that notified you when that was about to happen and let you stop it, were not talking about something you have to invent here its old tech, STOP LETTING THE SCUM CHANGE MY HOMEPAGE, or i'll change my browser, further more the boards are rife with these ridiculous problems that could be so easily fixed with a feature, way to suck you used to be good

Actually, the blame DOES fall on your antivirus because it is that program's job to make sure viruses and malware don't change your computer. Other browsers can have their homepages changed by malicious software as well, so switching might not help.

There might be a better way, but IObit Advanced SystemCare 8 has a homepage protector that alerts you when software tries to change it. Other than that, it's caused by malware and is not an actual problem with Firefox. Besides, IE and Chrome have their homepages hijacked just as easily.

Settings Guard for Firefox {web link} Detects and resets changes to settings that are frequently done by add-ons and application installers.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
