Google not displaying list of websites--can get them by signing in to g-mail and then pressing back button Internet explorer is OK

When I put a search word in Google, 4 or 5 suggestions will come up but when one is chosen no list of websites appears To get the list I have to click the sign in box for g-mail and then press the back button and the list appears. There is no problem in Internet Explorer.

Sounds similar to this thread: google search on www.google.com does not show any results, searching from the search box works. Do any of the suggestions there help?
