What do I do after registering one device but forgetting from which Windows account?

I want to pair a second device but can't remember which of my Windows accounts I originally signed up to Firefox Sync. I've searched help pages, which refer to managing the Sync account from Options > Sync, but the image displayed differs from mine, which displays as it would if a Sync account hadn't been set up.

Click I have an account and choose "I have lost the other device" when asked for your username and password. (Fill your user and password of Sync when asked before click that link)

You can find the sync password and the sync key in the password manager on the computer where you originally created that sync account (email).

Look for:

  • chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Password)
  • chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Encryption Passphrase)
  • Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

@marcsances But will this identify the specific Windows account on the device on which I registered with Sync?

@cor-el I've checked all the Firefox profiles related to possible Windows accounts, none of which have any saved passwords where suggested. In all cases Show Passwords is greyed out.

And what's the deal with what look like Google Chrome URLs?!

That aren't Google Chrome URLs.

Firefox uses the "chrome://" protocol to access its own internal files and also access files from extensions, so that has nothing to do with Google Chrome.

@cor-el I may need a hint or two with these links! And what about the other one? Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

I mentioned that all relevant profiles showed Show Passwords greyed out.

I want to clarify: can the suggestions you're making definately tell me which Windows account I used to register with Sync? If so, baby steps appreciated!

PS - When profiles are paired, is everything definately saved, or could some bookmarks etc. be overwritten/deleted?
