First, I don't know if this is a mozilla firefox situation or a google situation. When the google home page appears, there is an option in the bottom right corner i.e. Change background image? Placing the arrow cursor on this question results in a response of "Javascript: (void)" on the bottom left corner of the page. Clicking on, Change background image, goes to the Google log in page. I assume that the file of background images was lost when this computer was recently decontaminated from a virus or mal-ware infection (not certain of terminology). Upon start-up, there was a notification on the screen that there were 32 viruses on this computer, leading to an offer to remove the viruses for a one time fee of about $60 or an annual fee of roughly $100. Other than for accepting the offer, control of the computer was lost, the Windows Start button was unresponsive, the computer could only be shut down by pressing the power button, and computer restart and control had to be done in safe mode. I inexpertly used mal-ware/virus removal software to correct the problem, but lost the ability to change background images on Google page. I would like to change the background with the ease the image library initially provided. I am not trying to use my own images or to obtain images from a third party.

The information request boxes that follow lead me to believe that this situation is better addressed to Google. Any response from you would be wonderful, I would at least know that this message was received somewhere and that it did not drift into oblivion.

You got taken in by a scareware popup. That is a scam. There was probably nothing wrong with your computer, but by now there is because you installed their scamware. I would do a complete virus scan, plus a spyware scan.

I understand about the "scareware popup" but it was more than just scareware because it took control of the computer, preventing access to anti-virus and other programs including, security (spyware and adware) programs, and prevented normal shutdown of the computer. It has corrupted other parts of the Windows programming even though no offer was remotely accepted or knowingly installed. In any case, the only issue I was addressing was the loss of the Google, change background option. Since that time, the change background option has been reinstated through no action of my own. I assume that Google provides this service freely and automatically to any of its users. Thanks for your reply.
