OS: Vista 32 bit patched with Norton 360 patched.

Downloaded a huge file and Crapfox decided to delete it to annoy me. I literally saw it disappear right from my very eyes. It does this almost every time when I download any type of file.

I will never use Crapfox ever again.

A few things to check:

(1) Check Download Folder in FF: Preferences > General > check "Always ask me where to save files" or check if "Save files to" contains the download folder you want.

(2) Permission problems: is your download folder read-only?

(3) UAC: Control panel > User Accounts > 'Turn User Account Control On or Off': Check if it works when turned off. If so, you may tweak UAC ... (see e. g. http://www.vista4beginners.com/Disable-UAC-for-certain-applications).

(4) AV: Does it work if Antivirus/Malware Software/Firewall/Windows Defender is turned off? (Of course you'd turn if off only for testing.)

(5) Do you use a special download manager? If so, turn it off to check if it works.

(6) File system problem: some people performed a "file system check and repair" on the Vista OS drive and then it worked again (use with care, backup first etc.).

(7) Hidden files: turn on the view hidden files and folders and see if for some reason some files had a hidden flag.

(8) Admin rights: does it behave right if you use an account with admin rights? (Just for testing.)

(9) Does it work with other browsers, e. g. Opera?

I shouldn't even have to do all that nonense. I can download files with IE and have no problems.

Anyway:

1. Files are automatically saved to desktop. 2. I have admin rights. 3. The dreaded UAC spam? Yes that is disabled. 4. Tested. Problem persists. 5. I don't use download managers. 6. Clean OS install a few days ago. No bloatware, unnecessary programs, toolbars and other bovine feces on my PC. 7. Tested. Problem persists. 8. I have full permissions. 9. Only tested with IE.

It appears this website is a failure also. It can't even arrange my sentences on separate lines.

The input form seems to be configured this way, you'd have to enter return twice to arrange sentences on separate lines (I don't like it either).

I somewhat agree. But I just know that there have been quite a few people with similar problems, all of them had Vista, afaik. This finding is not that helpful, I know.

It makes sense that a browser form the same vendor works, although some people have reported that they can't use any browser properly. Since you've obviously checked virtually every thing I hope some expert can help here.
