No address bar up top to enter website address, also I don't see File, bookmarks, etc tabs

My wife's laptop (Window XP) does not show any website address bar up top and the tabs for File, Edit, Bookmarks, etc are missing. I can't figure out how to get them to show up. I tried downloading the most recent version of Firefox, but it did not work. I was thinking about uninstalling firefox and reinstalling, but wanted to check beforehand.

See menu bar is missing, it shows how to restore the menu bar and other toolbars.

The Navigation buttons like back, home, bookmarks and reload are missing article may also help.
