I tried to add as remote address book in Thunderbird a google account using CardDAV and providing the CardDAV URL, the Google username and the password and fails validation. From Log Viewer:

Please note that I could do without problems exactly the same operation (exactly the same CardDAV URL, Google username and the password) about 2 months ago using a slightly older version of Thunderbird. Also just logging in in Google in Firefox with the username and the password of the remote address book works fine and I can see all the contacts. So this problem looks like a bug introduced very recently in Thunderbird that was not happening 2 months ago or so. This makes Thunderbird unusable for me, so until this is fixed I will switch back to Evolution. Please let me know when fixed or if you have another solution. Thanks.

Actually I just solved my problem: I had add-on enabled for CardDAV: CardBook by Philippe V. (https://gitlab.com/CardBook/CardBook). Once I disabled it, I could add the above remote address book.
