I have 3 email account from verizon.net to AOL. All are working fine from AOL Mail web page. I was using these accounts via Thunderbird. At some time in last year AOL changed its mail settings and advisesd customer to modify their settings. For Thunderbird you needed to delete accounts and reset them. I delete the accounts and tried to re-install them, to no success. After a wile I reset all account using app passwords generated on AOL Mail web site, All email are receiving just fine, but I am not able to send email from any of the three accounts. I use POP3 with pop.verizon.net 995 SSN and smtp.verizon.net 465 SSL and password authentication. Error message is "Cannot connect to outgoing server, check your address. " Can you help me get what is wrong? Again, receiving email is working, so email addressing is right.

Chosen solution

use smtp.aol.com port 465 SSL for your outgoing with authentication method oAuth2

Use your verizon email address as the user name.

Note the authentication methods will not be shown immediately after you change the server name. Edit another SMTP server and go back as the list is populated with selections when the page loads for editing, not when you change the server. oAuth is only available for select server names, so it is not always loaded.
