My friend is having problems with Thunderbird 78.3.3 (Win 10).

She wants to edit a saved password and Tbird wants to authenticate her to display the passwords with a dialog box Windows Security / Mozilla Thunderbird / Verify Your Identity to Reveal the Saved Passwords. No matter which username and password for the several email accounts she types in (all correct), it says the username or password is incorrect.

Thank you very much.

The master password (or primary password) is required to reveal the saved passwords. There is no user ID for this. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Master_password

If no master password has ever been set in the first place, then the Windows account password is required.

Using her Windows password totally solved the problem. My friend is extremely grateful. Thanks for this advice!
