Concerning gmail login problem. Google states that their block of thunderbird is because it is a less secure app than a web browser. Since this has been going on since Feb 2020, is their any intention of meeting their security criteria. I really do not wish to lower my security protections to make this work.

What version of Thunderbird are you using? Thunderbird stopped being a "less secure app" five years ago! It has support for OAuth2 authentication, and that is what you should change your Tbird settings to. Go to Account Settings for your Gmail account in Tbird and set authentication method to OAuth2 for both incoming and outgoing servers. Details about account settings can be found here Configuration Options for Accounts

Thunderbird version is 68.10.0 I have set in and out to oath 2 and still no results. I only get a pop up to log into google that is in a mobius loop to request my gmail address over, and over again.

When that OAuth2 authentication pop up opens, are you entering the same email address and password that you use to log in to Gmail via a browser? Are you able to log in using those credentials via a browser? Also, make sure cookies are allowed in Tbird.

Cookies did the trick. It is working now. Thanks.
