New Tabs and even sometimes first tab do not load any page and become just "dead"

Open in New Tab and Ctr T is like a roll of dice now, the same page sometimes loads sometimes doesn't, usually closing FF and re-opening solves it.

This has been happening quite frequently so I tried several builds and solutions, uninstalled and reinstalled with new profile, safe mode, no add-ons or themes, both 32 and 64 bit, ESR, etc.. (I'm on Win10 64 bit)

If anyone is experiencing something similar or have an idea let me know please I've been using Firefox for longer than I remember and I would hate to switch now

Chosen solution

The latest FF 77 update and the "optional" windows update helped. Make sure all drivers are updated as well.

Are you always closing Firefox properly via Exit/Quit and give Firefox enough time before closing down the computer to make sure that all files in the profile folder are updated properly ?

Use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox Title bar.

  • "3-bar" menu button -> Exit (Power button)
  • Windows: File -> Exit
  • Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox
  • Linux: File -> Quit

I don't know what did the trick honestly but hopefully that's the end of it cause opening new sessions mid-browsing was really annoying.
