Hi,

I was aware of the recent issues as first reported back on the 3rd May regarding 'Add-ons disabled or failing to install in Firefox' (https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2019/05/04/update-regarding-add-ons-in-firefox/comment-page-5/) in which workarounds were offered or users were advised to update to the latest version. I myself am using the latest version 67.0. I can see all my installed add-ons and can even update and install them where required, but I cannot seem to install any new add-ons at all.

I have included two screenshots showing that I am using the latest version and the second which does not show the usual 'Install add-on' but instead shows the button 'Only with firefox, get firefox now, even though I have firefox installed.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

The issue is likely related to the AntiBrowserSpy TrackingBlocker extension that you have installed on Firefox. The reason I believe this is because your user agent in the system details of this thread is the following:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; rv:67.0 ) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/67.0 anonymized by Abelssoft 580523794

Whenever a program or extension anonymizes the user agent, it can cause issues. This tells websites what browser you are running. In this case, the Firefox add-ons website likely can't see that you are using Firefox, so it's prompting you to install Firefox.

The easiest way to check this is to run Firefox in Safe Mode. This mode will temporarily disable your add-ons. If the issue is not present in Safe Mode, it's likely an issue with the add-on I referenced above or maybe another one.

Hope this helps.

Hi and thank you for your reply Wesley.

That makes sense. However I checked it running FF in safe mode and the issue is still present. Any other suggestions?

Much appreciated.

Do you get the same results if you run in Safe Mode and disable your security software on your computer? Some security programs will also modify your user agent information.

The easiest way to test this is probably to use Windows Safe Mode with Networking.

You have a non-default user agent that has been modified by an extension or other software (Abelssoft). User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; rv:67.0 ) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/67.0 anonymized by Abelssoft 580523794

Hi cor-el

Apologies for the late reply.

It was as you correctly noted my non-default User Agent was modified by another software (Abelssoft) which I had forgotten about and I reset it and it cleared the problem.

Much appreciated thank you!
