I need Firefox to display the PDF document title in the browser's tab. Chrome nor IE give me this problem, but Firefox only wants to show the PDF's file name.

Are you using the built-in PDF viewer? The PDF viewer should show the title saved in the PDF's metadata. You can check the metadata using the overflow menu on the view toolbar (Document Properties) as shown in the attached screenshot.
