That question says it all. Besides, why do you let so many people search for how to register an account? Why can't you say at the beginning that this will be the last step of the ask a question process? Is someone having some perverse fun chasing people around and driving them crazy with stupid and user unfriendly gimmicks?

In the Library dialog (Ctrl+Shift+h) you should see all the history that Firefox knows about. If Firefox only shows one day, that's all there is. To cross-check you can enter http in the search box at the upper right of the Library dialog (that should match nearly all history).

Where did the earlier history go? Possibly it was cleared using the Forget button, or Clear Recent History, or the option to clear history at shutdown. Some add-ons may clear history. Some utility/privacy/security software may target browser history for cleaning from time to time.

If you used the Refresh feature -- which creates an Old Firefox Data folder on your desktop -- your older history might be in there, but there's no way to merge your existing recent history with old history, you would be exchanging one for the other if you restored the old file.

Thank you for your answer. Have now discovered in the history sidebar that my old history is still there. But Ctrl+Shift+h brings out a window that displays only less than a day when scrolling to the end of it. Is that they way it's supposed to be? Shouldn't he have similar buttons like Today Yesterday Last 7 days etc. that are shown in the sidebar? What is the purpose of the incomplete history that is displayed when you press Ctrl+Shift+h? Is that a bug?

Maybe he needed a kick in the derriere. Now he displays the history correctly when entering Ctrl+Shift+h, and the problem seems to be solved. Sorry for the trouble and thanks for the help.
