Can't see pictures within certain websites

more options

Hello group.

I can't see pictures within certain websites. I would say about 90% of the time while surfing the web I can see pictures. It's just the other 10% of the time I cannot.

For instance, I have three websites of my own. Whenever I check them all my pictures are not seen but when I click on a page and when that page comes up the pictures are now seen. I can even go back to my homepage and the pictures are now there to see. This also happens when I'm surfing Yahoo. I belong to a couple chat forum group's within Yahoo and sometimes when people post pictures I cannot see them. Also there is another problem while i'm thinking of it. Sometimes in the upper toolbars I'll see what looks like Asian writing with in the text. Sometimes it overlays over English writing.

Hope you can help and tell me how I can fix this problem.

Thank you very much for your time in this matter.

Try disabling your AVG Security Toolbar and see what happens.

Hi, the Asian writing has been known to be caused by McAfee Site Adviser - I don't see it on your system but there is more here, and how to remove it here.

I do see that you have AVG security Toolbar, so I would try disabling that, or you can Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page may also be useful.
