need help migrating imap folders from existing plesk server (old host service) to new cPanel server (new host service)

I am changing my web host service to GD and using their cPanel OS. I am currently hosted on WI and using their Plesk Panel. All of my email runs through IMAP and I use Thunderbird for my email service. I have dozens of email file folders with hundreds of emails which I need to keep for work purposes. The GD support rep told me that there is no way to migrate my files into the new cPanel OS, from a Plesk Panel. Is anyone out there smarter than the GD tech "guru"? Thanks.

Before you start ensure that View menu (alt+V) > folders is set to ALL so you are dealing with things that are real and not the result of searches.

Copy every thing from your imap folders structure to "Local Folders"

So create a folder under local folders say plesk. Copy whatever mail you want to transfer over to that folder or sub folders of it so it looks right.

Add your New IMAP account Now this is where it gets tricky if the email address is the same Thunderbird will not want to add a new account and you will need to modify your old account, but you can not do that until the DNS entries have time to propagate so the old server gets no more mail. Modifying the server details [Tools menu (alt+T) > account settings] on the existing mail account will see the first sync delete all your mail. Let it happen and do not panic. Copy the mail from local folders into your newly cleaned out or created account and the sync process should add the mail to the server that is copied in.
